As you get to know me, you’ll discover that music played a HUGE part in my upbringing. I want to take this time to thank my mother for introducing to my wifey named music. As a child, we were forced to do Saturday afternoon chores to music. The TV when off & the radio came on. Thinking back, my mom’s choice of music really inspired me while completing the task at hand. Kinda similar to slaves singing melodies of praise to survive what they experienced back then.

I was only a child & you know how kids are when they hear something catchy! I’m walking around the house repeating Johnny Taylor sing about a cat named Jody; think he was literally talking about a feline. I naive singing along to Betty Wright’s Clean-up Woman. Not putting much thought to it, why would a lady make a song about a janitor lady. Now that I’m an adult, these song tunes are no long humorous but can be tear jerking. I’m privileged to be alive in the digital era where all my childhood favorites are right at my disposal.  Music is a GIFT & a curse but I’m glad i’m able to hear these classic have revisit my childhood.

A major song Betty Wright recorded was called No Pain, No Gain. Ive heard that song a million times but I can honestly say todays the 1st time i’ve actually listened to it. No Pain, No Gain is laced with so many jewels & hearty advice that could have made my 43 year journey more enjoyable with way less turbulence. I linked below the classic by Betty Wright so you can follow the lyrics. Memory Lane all the way back to my childhood. Enjoy community.

She was right. No Pain, No Gain!
