The World Said I Shouldn’t Love You

I 🤎 You 70 to 200

I 🤎 You 70 to 200 〰️

One of the most iconic lenses in the world is the enormous white Canon lens that stands out like a sore thumb. It’s heavy, clunky, clumsy & awkward. Despite it’s girth, this workhorse is nearly perfect. Its pros totally outweighs its cons. With a 2.8 aperture & its instant autofocus & zoom capability, it basically does the leg work for you. But why would the world tell me I shouldn’t love her?

Everyone has their flaws. She’s heavy & flashy. But she does so. many things near perfect. With her range of 70mm to 200mm, she allows you to bring 1 lens instead of 3. Why carry a 50mm, 85mm & a 135mm when she has you covered. By covering a wide range of focal lengths, this creates more room in your bag for other gear.

She’s not prime! So what? A lot of photographers swear by prime or fixed focal length lenses. I can’t debated that a prime lens is way sharper by design but 99% of our clients can’t determine awesome sharpness compared to amazing sharpness. An average eye will not notice a difference at all.

The Compression is REAL

Separating the subject from its background creative a divine dimension in a photo. The way a 70-200 melts the background is undefeated. The greenery in the above image was busy & distracting. Understanding how to isolate your subject will produce a rich & stunning product that your clients will love.

The world says there are lighten and less expensive options to create similar results. But why settle for a 1 trick pony when a 70-200 wears so many different hats & can kill any task tossed at it?
